Hello everyone!
I found this knife on the net and was wondering what it is as I believe that a 97 was never made with a yellow handle? the person claims it is a cir 1970?
Thanks, Darren

This is a 296OTY... looks like yours, plus it has the long spey blade, only yours has the traditional Old Timer shield. Also the original 97OT.

Yours has the same body with the blade off of a 97OT. Looks to me like the two blades are very similar. The 97OT is a notorious pattern for different configurations. Some had Uncle Henry handles.

I also think is was a common knife they had a lot of leftover parts for at the end of the Schrade days.

Yours, it it yellow or is it undyed delrin? In the picture it looks like a bone color. Is it a single liner, or is there an empty liner? At any rate, I like it. A single blade trapper. Very handsome and unique knife. I wish it was mine.

I dont own this one, I seen it on the web. Thanks for the reply its nice to have so much information available. Darren

I would guess it is a put together from old parts or something found laying around in the the factory before the auction. Look at the other picture.

I don't know about the history of them, but it's cool it has the OLD TIMER shield, and the Delrin is sawcut. And it's that big 296 frame. Nice pick up, With Rick's, probably the blade came from the same stock pile as a carbon steel Buzzsaw Trapper..
