Please ID This Emerson

its definitely a gut hook. never seen one on a "non-hunter".

the handle looks like a cqc8, and it appears to be semi custom. custom scales and modded production type blade.

its one of the emerson astronaut knives which is based on the specwar, the hook is for opening food pouches and such IIRC.

if its not one that someone made up outta a specwar its a custom FWIW.

As I understand it, SIFU1A is right -- it's meant for opening foil packets for food in space without having to fully deploy the blade.

Also, there's a flat-tip screwdriver built in there as well.

This is actually the astronaut model...

That is one only available to the Astronaut program. Buy it if its affordable.

ermm, actually it's not the astronaut model. That was a Specwar B folder, with a packet opener cut into the front end of the Tanto blade. this on the other hand, was a custom CQC 8 model, with a gut hook, and a screwdriver tip incorporated into the tip. I believe it resides in the collection of a suspect.

cheers,
Nick

I could be wrong, but I know a few suspects have one that was made aftermarket to look like the above (which you are right in saying was basically a specwar with the packet opener)...the only way to check for sure is to check in the suspect sanctum.

It is a custom CQC8. The modifications were made for the owner of the knife by Mr. Emerson. It is an older knife and most likely only the only one like it.

It's an older CQC 8 Banana, the logo is that of the pre-date Specwar variant, and if you look closely, you'd realize that the handle scales aren't the present Black G-10 type, but it's actually the Black Micarta used on the older knives. Also, current Specwar folders hace deeper serrations, but this 8 has the older shallow scallops..yup..

cheers,
Nick

maybe so, but the blade just doesnt look like an '8 to me, more a specwar, but i would have to see the whole knife to really be able to tell. from the pic i sure cant tell G10 from micarta thats for sure.

if its a custom the serrations could look different than current production stuff.

but it could be an '8, maybe.
