That Chuddy Bear sheath is gorgeous. I second cross draw or a mount you can attach to your backpack.

Second on the Chuddy Bear open spine with optional over the shoulder rig

For my 1311 I went with a standard draw kydex with leg drop and leg loop

Carries and draws excellently

I like to carry big blades on my packs. Just lash w.e sheath you have to it and voila. IMO a big blade on the hip or even shoulder is quite cumbersome.

I have a BB for my 1311 (just like Jaxx) a Azwelke for my KZ and a Mashed Cat exposed spine for my Waki... all work very well for me... :D

I'm with this guy ;)

I like big knives on my pack, and a 4-5" on my belt.

With big blades just make sure you have as many options as you can, these knives and swords dont always carry well in our favorite ways. Weight and balance, length and width all make a big difference in each method.

Cross draw in one knife might be ideal, but the balance in a similar knife might be all kinds of wrong.

Dangler is good for big blades as you can strap them to your leg to keep them under control, but too big and it quickly becomes a nuisance.

Strap it to your back via Dundee or horizontal Dundee, or strap across the chest with it on your hip via bandoleer carry are all very comfortable, especially the bandoleer.

Strap it to your pack, make sure you have the option of strapping that suits you best. Rings, straps, loops, and cord all have their place.

Lots of ways to go with big blades! Best of luck finding one that fits your needs! I'm not going to wave my flag or toot my horn as its just not my style. But please do post pics of your new rig, I love looking at new work no matter the maker. :)

I'm working on something a little bit special at the moment with the help of good Mr Brown. Be happy to share when it's finished.

Dwayne could you PM me if you received my PM with a picture of one of your sheaths?
Thanks,
Greg

Knives Ship Free used to sell a leather baldric similar to what Tom posted above, very nice for carrying large blades.

OTOH, a properly made IWB sheath can be used with a surprisingly large knife... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_bIQUXXKLw
I've watched full sized bowies come out of nowhere. Loose clothing and a resistance to sitting down seems to be the key.

I have carried some pretty big blades horizontally and found it to be very comfortable. But then again, I am what some might call wide so I can get away with a bit more.

My boss once walked up to me and asked if I wanted to see a knife. He pulled an Esee Junglas complete with full molle backed sheath out of his pants, and that thing was literally not there a moment before... Couldn't believe he was able to conceal something that huge so easily.

I've seen a shoulder rig for a kukri around here that a larger guy was able to conceal under a loose button up shirt.
