My grandmother fell down the steps last night. She looks like she went a couple rounds in the ring. She is about 87, and is a tough old bird. My great grandmother was the toughest woman I ever knew, and her daughter is just about as tough. No broken bones thank God, although her hand may be. Same hospital I was at, trauma unit. Waiting for the ambo, we prayed, and I joked around with her. Not that I was going to move her, but I can't lift more than 20 lbs because of my broken back. You guys and gals prayed for me, I believe in the power of it. I appreciate prayers, smoke and all good thoughts.

Sorry to hear about your Gram. Good luck to her and hoping for a quick and successful recovery.

Man, you have not had a run of good luck lately.

Prayers for a quick and speedy recovery (for both of you).

I believe in the power of prayer as well. Both you and your grandmother will be in mine.My mom is 87 ,lives alone, still drives w/o issues and I worry myself sick

about just such a thing. God bless.

Sorry to read this SHS. Most definitely, prayers and well wishes on the way for your family.

Prayers sent, and I sure hope she will be OK. I also wish for a speedy recovery for yourself.

Man, I am alive and have all my extremities (almost lost my foot, clutch pedal was embedded in my steel toe work shoes, they had to extricate me not only from my truck but from my shoes), and I fell into a great deal on a truck, have had family and friends help me out with that. My grandmother could have easily broken her back, her neck, etc. She could have died from that fall, but she is doing well. Broken hand, and bad pain in her ribs. However, she is still with us. The hospital is actually sending her home tomorrow. Poor old lady can't get up out of bed without two physical therapists and mother to help (I couldn't lift her), and can only put one hand on her walker. Tough old broad for sure. Her physical therapist was the one who took care of me when I was in the hospital. My grandmother was happy that we got the same PT. The PT told my grandmother she didn't fuss as much as I did. Good to see some smiles from her.

Silent - sorry to hear about your grandma :( Prayers sent!

I hope she´ll be fine again.

Sendin up for smoke for your grandmother. It's hard when they start getting up in years. I'm glad she didn't get severly hurt.

Mine is 96 and still lives without help. She has fallen a couple times in the last year, but not gotten hurt. She couldn't get up on her own, but fortunately she wears her Life Alert. It notified the managers of the retirement home she lives in, and they came and got her. Without it, she could have layed there for a couple days, before someone found her

Thank you everyone. They sent her home today. She cannot move, is in horrible pain and they sent her home. My nurses took care of me, but the hospital rushed me out when I was in there. My mother took her to another hospital and they gave her the runaround. My granny is sitting here across from me and looks horrible. With a hurricane coming too. I appreciate the doctors, nurses and other medical personnel are a valuable and appreciated luxury in this country, but I cannot abide the management! My mother is under a helluva lot of stress and they told her to just put my grandmother in a home. Man, I'm glad I wasn't up there. I thank you all for your prayers but man! God grant my mother some peace and good news. I'm just thankful that my granny is alive. She's talking up a storm and laughing but can't move on her own. She is a tough old bird and not upset at all.

She can't move, and is in a lot of pain, and they sent her home ? I think I would have blown a gasket on that decision. Sadly many hospitals and doctors are more interested in the money aspect of medicine, and less into the taking care of people. A lot of times, the insurance a person has,or doesn't have, dictates how much time and care a person receives...

Perhaps it would be a good idea for her to move into a home, where she can get 24 hour care, but why not make sure she is o.k, and not in pain before they kick her out ?
It is good she is in good spirits though.

That's sad that they moved her out so quick. My co-worker had a heart attack and 2 stents put in. They sent him home the next day.

I hope everything works out for both of you.

Glenn
