So, the other day I ordered this Ka-Bar Becker BK9 from Amazon.com, and it just got here. It came in a black box, not the usual gold-ish looking Becker Ka-Bar box that the usual Ka-Bar Becker's come in. It also did not contain any other things besides the BK9 and the sheath. I have saw some videos and I believe it is supposed to come with a pamphlet and another little knife. Is this normal? Am I wrong? Did I get a messed up order? PLEASE HELP.

My BK9 came in a big black box, just like the big black box my ZK War Sword and my BK2 came in. So I would say that is normal.

Also, the BK13 remora has not come with the BK9 for like a year (it was a promotional thing and is no longer being done). The sheath still has a place for them, you just have to buy them yourself.

In other words, you got a normal BK9 (which is still awesome :D).

Stick around though, this place is great :).

This is the current box for a BK9

The BK13 Remora used to come with the 9's
So you should have a nice sharp 9 a white cardboard blade cover and a crappy black sheath. No papers.

Hi, and welcome to the Becker forum :)

all the new knives that i'm aware of come with a Black box now. there's probably old stock with the gold boxes. KaBar likes to change and fiddle, they update things all the time. new generations of boxes, packing, and so on...

the new blades coming for 2012 will all have new stippled epoxy coatings and laser etching for instance. small change, but interesting, good, and welcome...

back to your knife...

sometimes there's literature, esp if you order from certain vendors, they like to stuff the box with a catalog if they have them, and other things.

as for the "little knife", the BK13, that was an extremely limited run special, using a sprint run of china made BK13s as a proof of concept for the BK13. a freebie / thankyou from KaBar. when those ran out, they stopped putting them in boxes. some vendors might have old stock, but Amazon moves so much stuff, that barring cross-over periods, and regional warehouse issues, they are almost always bound to burn through inventory and have new stuff flowing as soon as possible.

if you were to have worked with another vendor, you probably could have called them and asked, but i would imagine that at this point, almost EVERYONE is out.

good news is, your sheath (as do several sheaths of that type), all come with the insert for the BK13. if you buy a new BK13, you'll be getting an American made model, of pristine quality - it's much nicer than the china made sprint run... has a better surface treatment, and excellent grind.

good luck...

@Psyop

Thanks, I really appreciate you clearing everything up for me too, I was worried that Amazon ripped me off or something.

Oh right... I forgot about the lack of papers.

I think my USMC came with some papers, but I don't recall any for the other blades. Maybe its because I'm always too excited when unboxing a new knife?

Or maybe I just test for sharpness on that paper and then throw it away...

Either way, you're good to go :).

Oh and here is my BK9 straight out of the box after it made a bald spot on my arm. You do know we are going to need pics of you beating on something with that new knife?
