Hiya guys.

Been thinking about the Tip of the day threads. Some have suggested that it be one thread for posting them and no responses. We tried that a long time ago and it got confusing. I think Tips are a great idea. Any suggestions on keeping it simple and easy to track?
Sticky (Important) at the top?

One other thing...
I think a sticky (Important) for Christmas greetings would work best. If everyone posts them it makes for too much reading and hard to keep up with the knifemaking stuff.
Suggestions?

Thanks for making this forum the best on the net. :)

:)

as you said, post only would be good.
if they are numbered( each post)
then maybe they can be addressed by number
in another thread to keep the tip of the day thread from
getting cluttered? anything other than a posted tip could be moved by you:D

::you have the power Luke :: I mean Kit:D :D

I'm of the belief that tips are just that: Tips. They are just another thread. Tip threads aren;t any different in content than threads which start one way, then people post their own ideas and methods about that subject. That's why they shoudl be left as is... to facilitate free thought. Putting them in a sticky, and locking responses limits the interaction of the board somewhat, because if someone reading the thread has a question, who will he ask it? If he sends the "Tipster" a private email then others on the forum won't benefit from the tipster's response.

I say leave them as they are.

If someone lists a knife making tip that he says will save much time,,,BUT i just dont understand the way to do the tip,,I believe there should be a place for me to ask a question or two of the tipster...

also,,,

I would hope if guy "A" lists a tip,,,and then guy "B" sees a way to add one more thing to the tip and make it better, ,,,that guy"B" would be able to post in the same topic so that the whole "idea" behind both the first tip and the "helping tip' would not get lost....

maybe like

Let's just let everything go like it is for awhile. If it gets to be too confusing, you'll let me know :)

Dan,
I was too so I just pulled the "sticky" to see where it went.
Who was that grouchy old bastid that brought it up in the first place :)
