I’m looking for a cheap fixed blade. Something that is sheeple friendly, has a decent steel (better than 3cr, 8cr or aus 8) and with a sheath that you consider having decent retention. I want to try switching to fixed blades for edc. I open and break down boxes and whittle occasionally. I have other knives for harder tasks. I’d like it to be something that I can use at work and not get a crazy look. I work at a supermarket. I only use it when I’m in the back, I don’t like to use knives in the store itself. I use a box cutter for that. My coworkers are cool and everything but I just want to be thoughtful. I currently use a dragonfly 2.

I just picked up a Hess whitetail and I really like it. 1095 steel. Comes in under your budget and a very friendly size. A more traditional look makes it look less tactical and aggressive.

Try a CRKT Minimalist, I have the custom and Schmookey Mount Knife Twerks exclusive in D2 and can safely tell you that the custom is not worth the money. CRKT does a great job.

Civivi has the Minimis...

Bark River has a whole bunch of smaller fixed blades, I think some will fit into your budget.

Also own a MKM Mikro, the default sheath is kind of bad but the knife is neat and classy.

White river knives makes good ones too in your budget, try the backpacker.

Too many to list, have fun shopping!

3” under blade length or overall length?

If it’s the former, I highly recommend the Mora Eldris (you can check out my review in the knife reviews subforum hehehe). In summary, pros include a compact yet very capable blade, a fairly comfortable handle (though your pinky might float if you have large hands) and a lightweight package that won’t weigh your front pocket down. You can get this guy in red, yellow, and other sheeple-friendly colors.

The Izula 1 or 2 is also a great knife, though it is pricier considering that the Eldris can pretty much keep up with it. It’s also available in multiple colors, but the neon green might draw unwanted attention. I personally went for the black one.

Happy hunting. Pick whatever knife best suits your needs. :)

Only 3 inch or under I own are ESEE. I have an ESEE 3 and 2 Izulas. ESEE also has some of the best stock sheaths I have found. If you can find one in stocks the ESEE Xancudo fixed blade comes in S35VN.

Here is my ESEE/Rat 3 next to my BM 151

And Izula 2 next to my CQC Mini 15

A little more fancy, I like some of the small fixed blades by Duck Childress. I do not own one but want to try it is the ESEE CR 2.5, more of a BnT design. Cannot go wrong with the Isulas either, but I also like the Whiteriver Backpacker.

One last thought, I do have a Enzo/Brisa necker, small but is good in the hand, just a little smaller handle. The thing with small fixed blades for me is finding a smaller blade but still a large enough handle to be useful, I like a four finger grip unless the handle is designed well enough to accommodate different holds.

I’ve owned the white river and the esee and I prefer the ergos on the white river, slightly larger than 3” though. Both are great, can’t go wrong.

Cold Steel Pendleton Mini Hunter in 3V for around $100. Think it might be discontinued though, as they are only showing an AUS10A version now.

White River. I would recommend the Backpacker Pro or Caper model, tho, just because I prefer scales over paracord. I consider WRKT knives to be semi-custom. And they're really nice people!

@JFK110, that Battle Horse is nice!
