Please recommend a folder sheath

I just finished reading mercop's professional carry option article. I also checked out a few links for custom sheathmakers. If I plan to carry my emerson folder IWB, what sheaths do you guys recommend? Would a custom kydex one be better? Or should I clip my folder inside my pants and not worry about sheath. I am looking for a sheath that allows me to carry with the folder closed mostly for SD.

How noticeable is a nylon sheath by TAD gear worn on the belt on the outside? Do you guys usually prefer the knife be worn horizontal or vertical if it's on the belt? Which mounting method is more secure so I don't drop my knife when attempting to draw it? What position do you recommend I carry if I plan to carry in a sheath on the belt?

Can you recommend a sheath for IWB carry and one on the belt? Thanks for your time.

I carry knives IWB on a fairly regular basis, with just the clip. That works great for me. I do not feel the need for a sheath for IWB carry.

I personally prefer vertical carry when I am using a belt sheath. The knife is less likely to fall out with rigorous activities. But, again, that is just my personal preference I am quite fond of the TAD Gear sheaths, as I use them for my lights as well as my knives. I hope this helps.

Does your folder poke at your stomach if you carry IWB with just the clip. I have tried carrying a 3 inch folder with no sheath and it was somewhat uncomfortable because whenever I sat down, it would poke against my stomach. What position do you carry your folder when you have it clipped? Has it ever fallen off? Do you clip to just your pants, or pants and belt too? Thanks for the quick response.

Emersons are fairly flat. I used to carry my Benchmade Emerson, which was practically a CQC-7, IWB at 2:00. No problem at all, it was comfortable and secure. No sheath necessary.

Thanks. I will try carrying with no sheath for a few days with the emerson and then maybe try out a tad gear pouch to see which one I like more. Have you ever have the knife fall off your pants since you didn't have a sheath? Does the clip lose become loose over time if I'm taking the folder off the pants and clipping it on a different set of pants the next day? I am worried that the clip will be loose from everyday use after a few months and the folder will fall off my pants.
**Also, since the emerson is waved, have you ever on accident opened the knife 1/2 way during the draw even though you didn't intend it wave it?

I don't know how a Wave feature would be for IWB carry, but I've never had problem with my knives falling off of me if they were clipped on, unless it was a VERY cheap knife. I've carried a couple knives IWB, and it was quite comfortable. Just make sure you can still reach it- I found it difficult to grab it quickly from behind my belt.

I carry my knife IWB at appendix. I have never had a problem with the knife coming off. I just clip it to my pants, and the belt keeps it secure by being over it.

I carry my Zero Tolerance ZT 0200 every day both in and out of the house IWB with no problem,......even now as i sit in my living room typing. My belt covers the clip (it has a short clip on this model!), and pulling my shirt up a bit creats a flap to totally hide the knife.

I actually loosened the clip up a bit, as factory "new" was OK,.....but i didn't want to wear out the fabric on all my black jeans by repeated use. So i have a couple millimeters of a gap in the clip that i put in ,.....enough to create a little drag but ease clipping and removal. Remember,.....most folks also wear a belt and that helps to keep it in place also.

The knife even stays in place when i'm sitting,....ummmm,.......with my pants down around my ankles! :D

I also carry my backup of the same knife to my back left side in a new nylon sheath that came with my Buck 397. It fits perfect for the ZT 0200 also,.....but of course in not concealed.

If your worried about the clip coming loose on you just check the screws once a week to make sure they are tight. The simplest way would be to use blue Loctite on the screw threads to keep them from working loose.
