Hey guys, so I have my Sonoma, and it's a beautiful, really sweet knife and I love almost everything about it. I dont really want to get rid of it but I have it listed here (not the point of the post, not trying to advertise so I'm sorry if that's over the line) for one reason: I can't figure out how to reliably get the damn thing open.

When I first got it, I instantly took to it and flipped it many times over. Now for some reason I go back to it over and over, and I cannot figure out how to get it open except for maybe once or twice. Any pressure on the lockbar and it won't budge whatsoever.

Does anyone else own one and have this issue? How did you solve it or was it a deal breaker for you? I love love love everything else about it, I really do. But this is such a big hindrance for me at this point I don't know what to do. So just curious any tips or experience with anyone else's would be awesome to hear!

I had another brand and had the exact same experience. Drove me nuts! I'd see videos and see others getting on with no problem. In the end it bugged me enough to where I just sold the knife.

But I'm sure it was a lemon, too. I posted about it on that brand's FB group and it was a known, but limited issue.

So maybe you just got one that is a little on the sensitive side?

On my knife on the FB page, several guys said theirs started out touchy and eventually got easy, and to keep working on it (but by then it was too late for me)

It drives me insane. It's like I can do it fine for one or two flips then boom my hand just forgets or can't hold it anymore. I might let it go and get the liner lock version

I have better luck using my thumb to flip the Sonoma than my first finger. Both the Sonoma and Sonoma V2 have quite a strong detent but once you get past that they fire pretty well.

I think it all just comes down to practice and being consistent. It is fairly difficult though. I feel like the V2 would be easier given the lock side is covered in solid material instead of a lockbar.
