I’ve done one successful patina-ing. A K390 PM2. 45 minutes wrapped in paper towels soaked in apple cider vinegar. Made a beautiful silver grey with hints of blue and brown. If I had any skill I’d post a picture. But alas, it seems to require a link. By the way, this did NOT work with M4. Oh, and it hasn’t shown a hint of rust in normal use. I confess I got this from Michael Christie on youtube, I didn’t invent it.

I tried mustard and vinegar on my GB2 and it was kind of mediocre. Now I just use it cutting apples, tomatos, and steak. Seems to age pretty well. The k390 is minty fresh, so my recipe will be to use it.

Mustard and vinegar on 1095 does great though! Dapple/smear mustard all over, then wrap in a vinegar-soaked paper towel.

I've done a few M4 knives. They don't give a spectacular result like HAP40 or VToku2.

M4 just comes out like an old wrench in a barn toolbox.
