Are there specific knifemakers whose knives you tend to gravitate towards in your collecting?

I will sometimes purchase a knife just because it catches my attention and I like it but
more often I'm drawn towards specific makers whose knives generally appeal to me and I have enjoyed
dealing with over the years. I will say that once I purchase my first knife from a knifemaker others
usually follow.

Please share examples where you have 2-3 or more knives from a specific knifemaker.

I will start off with my current Don Hanson III collection and as always, thank you in advance for
interest and participation.

Kevin, I completely agree with you that the relationship with the maker is the reason I end of with more than one knife from them. Currently, I've really enjoyed working with John Doyle and Brent Cramer. Both makers will continue to have my business based on the way they have carried themselves when we speak or email.

Avatar says it all, though there is another standalone collection of any number of makers, one of the favs being DHIII.

Had a Burt Foster collection, almost 10 years......7 of those knives are destined for other colllectors.

I have one of two of the largest Matt Diskin knife collections extant....here are 7 of the 9 I own:

I have several Makers which I have more than 1 knife from them... however my current largest collection from one maker is Jason Knight. Here's all of the blades he's made I currently have in one pic.

Kevin, nice seeing those together!

Here's my single maker collection, TBose.

Surprised to see you let the Foster's go Steven.

I've been collecting Jerry Fisk knives from the very beginning, will share some of those a little latter.

I don't have time to post pics I'm on my way to one of my kids playoff games but we all know I have certain tastes and requirements that leads me to do repeat business with certain makers

Knight
Bagwell
Wheeler
Foster
Lurquin
Hartsfield

To name a few

It also does not hurt that I consider them all friends :)

I would like to get me some Hanson love but he's gotta dumb it up for me a bit :)

I generally become a repeat custom of the makers that I like. This is especially true of makers who take time to show and teach me something about their process or knives in general. I agree with Kevin that it is every bit as much about the maker as the knives.

I have multiples of many (JR Cook, Mike Williams, Johnny Stout, Bing, Culver, etc) but most of those I've shown here in one post or another. Here are a couple newer collections:

David Lisch

Don Hanson

Here is my small Hancock collection. I had a few others but just kept these three nicer ones.

No picture yet of all my Hansons together so here are the individual ones. I had alot more of Don's folders but sold them and this is what I have now.

First one here is my carry knife which I use every day and am not afraid to scratch up.

Truly remarkable dedication and collection is a mind-blower.....you are inspirational!

Hey Kevin.....I kept 3(the CLI I, subhilt and mosaic utility hunter.....all superb knives, and excellence displayed before many others....Burt can be a true trailblazer when he wants to be) There is a time when a maker stops being as relevant as they once were, depending upon market conditions and maker intention.

In Burt's case, I just feel like he is not working it with the same intensity and passion that he once had, and it was those qualities of his approach that engaged me, and recognizing that, it's time to move on.

It was not an easy decision by any means, but some of Burt's responses to me were indicative that I was correct in my assessment.

Hello everyone!

Just stopping by for a quick glimpse - some wonderful collections here and a great idea for a thread. Will hopefully have a little more time to comment further in the next few days. In the meantime here is my CAS collection - or parts of it, because I left out all pieces I obtained on the secondary market. All the ones shown here came directly from my old friends themselves.

All the best,

Jon, I love these Hancock Hunters. Very difficult to find these days. I've never actually seen one in person. You also have an impressive collection of Don Hanson's work. great stuff.

Thanks, and sorry thats a really bad picture. I haven't seen any out in the market. The two frame handle ones here (green ivory and amber stag) were basically begged for. They were in collections and I contacted the folks and ended up with deals. I know who owns another one thats out there with black wood. Ken has one too with musk ox i believe.

It may be hard to find one in person to handle, but I can tell you they are very substantial and pretty heavy.
