Hey everybody, this is my first post in this sub-forum. I think it’s about time though. I am new to CRK, getting my first of two last May. I finally took that step and got an Umnum new from TNK. I love that knife, it’s the best… well maybe I should say it’s one of the best, because just last week I picked up this little beauty. It’s a large classic w ebony inlays (my favorite type of wood). Ebony is native here in south Tejas and my grandfather makes crosses with it that would blow your mind. Anyways, I digress.

The reason I’m posting this is twofold: I’d like to ask you aficionados a couple questions and then I’d like to see some more lefty love in this forum. That is one of the things I appreciate about CR is that he, unlike so many other manufacturers, does not forget about us lefties. So let’s see some pics of your LH CR knives. I want to make all of you rightie punks jealous for once instead of the other way around.;) Here are mine:

First, my questions:

-What the heck is the deal with BG42 blade steel? You guys all talk about it so fondly, like it’s a badge of honor to have a knife with it. Is it better? Why is no one using it anymore. Is it just because it is the OG blade steel or something? Somebody help me here, I need the details.

-Second, my new to me Classic is not quite centered. I read up on how to disassemble and clean it and I went ahead and did this. It’s just as buttery smooth as before and just as slightly off center as before too. Question is: if I send it in to the shop for some new perforated washers and a tune up will it come back centered? Or am I sol?

-Finally should I baby this knife and find myself another sebebza later on to thump on? I mean it is discontinued and all, or should I use the crap out of it? I’m leaning towards the latter.

I think my next CRK is going to be a Regular. If anybody has any leads on a LH let me know.

Now lets see if I can post a pic on my first try:D

I'm not sure I've got any pics on hand and the debt crisis in Congress is literally killing us at work so no new pix for a while, but I do have a bunch of LH Sebs...small regular BG-42, large 21 S30V, small and large lignum vitae S30V Classics and small micarta S35VN 21. Great knives!

I have a few LH CRKs myself.

My comment on your questions:
BG42: It's an awesome blade, and I that's all I have to know. I adore my newer CRKs with S30V and S35VN equally though. I'm sure more knowledgeable members can chime in.

Off-centered blades: Some of mine are ever so ever slightly off-center if you look very closely, but it doesn't bother me. My plain 21 was a bit more noticeably off. I sent it to CRK and they fixed it with no charge. Even the return shipping was paid. If yours looks noticeably off and it bothers you, talk to Heather and I'm sure they'll take care of it.

Baby or not to baby: Did you buy the knife to use? If so use it! Of course you can choose to give easier tasks on some blades and give tougher cutting job to another. But that doesn't mean you can't use your nice blade at all. I use and EDC all of my CRKs, but I must say I give a little easier pocket time on Web-sight (riding in CRK leather sleeve)

My LH CRKs.

Coelacanth: thanks for the insights, yea I'll go ahead and send her in. I want dbl silver thumb studs anyway. And nice collection btw, that regular is looking better and better every time I see one. What is wrong with me?

Paradiggum: that's the sign of a good knife, duplicates. Double duplicates even!

I usually get duplicates of the items I carry and like a lot. Gone are the days of not being able to replace something because it's no longer made.
I've picked up quite a few more since that picture was taken. I have to admit due to lack of time and a bit of being lazy I didn't want to get everything out, take a pic and put it all back. But here's a pic. They're all lefties. :) 3 Umnumzaans, couple Wilson small Sebbies, plain sebbies with different thumb studs. A couple of classic micartas, Lg Regular, Few large and a small classic.

Some day when I have the time to get everything out I'll get a family pic.

I only have one Lefty knife. It fulfilled two missing spots in my collection. I didn't have an Annual Edition and I didn't have a Lefty.

So, this seems like a likely spot for the question, given that there's apparently plenty of lefties out there: Where the heck do you FIND a left-handed Sebenza? I've looked all over the place, and can't find a dealer that has any lefties in stock. Is the best method just to order directly from CRK?

Here is my one and only CRK. I'm thinking about selling or trading it and getting an umnum.

Bd51, I remember when you posted these pictures, I really like the top one with the partially open Sebenza on the window sill. Thanks for sharing it again!

Well, if you decide to let it go, lemme know. Trying to find a leftie is like pulling teeth, and according to the email I received back from them today, the regular ones are backordered 3 months, the lefties perhaps 6.
