Please - Some Computer Help!

My computer speakers were working just fine and then we moved to our new house. I plugged everything in (I think) just the way they were and now no sound. I checked and it says everything is working properly but NO SOUND! It is so frustrating. I am only computer literate enough to be dangerous. Any help or suggestions would be great. There are two Bose Speakers that handle the sound. :mad: :confused: :grumpy:
 
Don't know if this will work, but go to to your start menu, then click on control panel, then click on hardware and sound, then click on sound and you you can see if your system volume is up and the mute isn't on.

Mine was turned down and I was able to turn it up there.
 
I had that exact problem today, and my mother had the same problem a while back. In each case, my 13 year old fixed it by closing and re-opening Firefox. Some kind of glitch occurs apparently when plugging everything back in and getting it all going - I have no idea why. But it worked. Maybe its a long shot, but if you are running Firefox, give it a try.
 
First I would make sure the speakers are plugged into the right hole
on the computer. Second I would make sure the speakers are plugged into the outlet,or batteries are good,
(if they require external power)

Now,still no sound,go to the desktop
click 1 time(regular right click) on a empty spot (not on an Icon)
now push the F1 button one time. This will bring up
Windows Help. Type in "Volume" and hit enter.
The help will show you how to click on things to find the sound icon and change the settings.
Might be the sound is on mute or the volume is all the way down.

Im not an expert,nor do I play one on tv.
 
Things to check first:

1. Speaker has power?
2. Speaker connected to the right port on the PC?
3. Volume muted?
4. Have you rebooted the computer?

If all of those above checks out fine, more information is needed such as the operating system etc. It will be a lot easier if you can be on the phone with one of the fellow members assisting you. I can help if you send me a PH#.
 
Thanks everyone, but fugawee got me going again. Man, I can't believe how simple, yet so frustrating, that these computers can be. Thanks again, John, for calling me and getting me straightened out!
