Please someone Help with avatar pic problem

Hi;Can I e-mail someone a pic that needs cropping.I can't figure out how to do it no matter what I try.I also couldn't attach pics as an avatar,that are even smaller than other peoples.I don't understand how mine is too big and others aren't when mine looks smaller.Help anyone?
