Hey I need some help in getting info on two knives/daggers that I recently obtained. they both look simular, approximately 12" total length. Both are fixed blades with wooden handles. The blades are wavy (serpentine). One of them says VALOR #114 Japan on it. My step dad got these when he was in the vietnam war. Please if anyone can help with how old or their value or provide any assistance I would appreciate it. I can email someone a photo if necessary, Thanks, Rick:D

I know some Fairbairn-Sykes knives are imprinted with VALOR, but that can't be it. Perhaps it's another knife from Sheffield?

I don't recall seeing Valor of Japan knives before about 1984. I certainly don't recall them from when I was growing up during the Viet Nam War era. I suppose it is possible that no pawn shop, sporting goods, hardware or discount store in my area handled them even though they were available elsewhere.

Surely ... "this is a job -- for Bernard Levine." Who has his own sub-forum here on the BF.

Just post good, sharp pictures from all angles and note whatever markings you find, especially.

If that man doesn't know it, it probably isn't worth knowing. About knives. ;)

here ya go.

as OP said, this thread would be better served in levines forum. perhaps a mod could move it?

just from the pics, i would say they are of low quality. note the uneven grinds, how the guards dont fit well, and the gaps between the blades and guards.

i could be wrong.

Absolutely no disrespect intended to the OP for the folowing statement.

If someone was chasing me down the street with those knives, I'd be running terrified and LMAO at the same time.

no kiddin'!
buy it really does look like the aftermath of some character's actions who had tried unsuccessfully to stab the incredible hulk with an arkansas toothpick...
but seriously, i recall havin' come across a pictured knife article once 'bout one very tough backwoods individual who had forged just such a pattern to deal with 'gators.

Hey, aren’t those the knives they use in the rice fields or something. I sure as hell would not want the job of having to sharpen them. sorry man they are kind of cool looking though.
