Was just browsing flea bay and came across this beauty for a price I couldn't refuse ( really I'm a sucker for a nice long match strike pull).what is it? Is it good steel ? All I've been able to find is that this company went on to become Richard of sheffield but I haven't found out much about when and what kind of stuff this company did.

Thanks
Rob

That´s a Richartz, Solingen not a Richards, Sheffield. I don´t know exactely when they used this tangstamp but later they used a stamp with a wale shown up.

The company still exists - here´s a link to their HP http://www.richartz.com/de/richartz/klassiker-von-morgen/taschenmesser/struktura-classic.html (Though they don´t make any traditional knives anymore)

I think you can write them an email when you want to know the production year of this knife, or at least in which period this pattern was made.

However... it´s a nice knife made by a traditional maker of Solingen. Congratz, Sir!

Richards Sheffield is not totally wrong. Richartz Solingen did not go on to become Richards Sheffield but rather they formed that company around 1934. It would be very hard to date the knife beyond the company starting in 1900 and still in business, that and the fact they did not change tang stamps frequently like many others.

It appears to be a very nice knife. And with a punch!

That still looks like it has some decent life left in it.

Nice stamped etch!
