Wow, there have been plenty of Sus Scrofas at the company store for many weeks now...
Sus Scrofa LE - Limited edition, numbered with tiger hide micarta.
Sus Scrofa - Black with black/tan G-10 .190
Sus Scrofa - Satin with blue G-10 .170
Sus Scrofa - Black with orange G-10 .190

Are these just not selling well or does Skunk have a boat load of them?

I have a DC w/ Green Linen handles - (it is a keeper). I was tempted to pick up the Satin w/ Blue G10 but what about long term collectibility?

if it was a straighter blade rather than the hawkbill, I would probably get one. Alas.....

Some things are just that way. I remember the AKs were also at the BCS for a long long time. Everyone tried to scramble to get one when they found out that they were nearly gone. Good luck trying to find one of those anywhere near BCS prices now.

I think the SS is either a hit or miss deal with a lot of people. Some either really love the Wharnie/Hawkbill blade or they dislike them. They are probably not as readily accepted as the more traditional and common blade shapes like the GW, AD, and MS.

Agreed. I ordered the SS as my first Busse (although I did pick up a FFFBM while I waited!) since I had used a Spyderco Harpy as my EDC for probably 5 years. That hawkbill blade came in handy many times for cutting.

Easy to apply pressure to the point to make scroll cuts on thin material, and when cutting rope that reverse curve really digs into it instead of sometimes slipping off near the tip.

What are the advantages of a hawkbill blade?

Note that the Sus Scrofa is a combination of a Sheeps foot and a hawk bill blade (more of a sheeps foot in my opinion).

Below is some quick pics comparing the Scrofa to the Spyderco Harpy (a hawkbill blade)...

Same with the Hell Razors. Thay sat there for a long long time at about 247 each. The a year later they were pushing $500.00:eek:
.

I think they will eventually be even more. The oddball busses always seem to bring a lot later on. My jaw dropped when I started to see people paying 600+ for force ones with no options.

I plan on getting a SS or two, one to keep as is and one to convert to wharnie.

I'm still trying to decide if its G10 or micarta for my user.

The Scrofas just don't do it for me. I prefer the more traditional blade shapes, don't really have use for anything like the Scrofa. But then, that just leaves me more money to buy GWs with. :D
