Here is another one forged from one of those old spring-tine cultivator blades. Before I finished everything up, I dropped it tip first from about 3 feet onto my concrete shop floor, then chopped a 3/16 brazing rod almost half in two. Very little noticable damage to the tip or edge. Tuff stuff.

Blade antiqued finish
Damascus guard and butt cap
Sambar Stag handle
OAL - 11"
Blade Tip to Guard - 6 7/8"

Thanks for looking........ Robert

sweet knife robert. i use john deere cultivator discs (1075) to make my knives out of. i figured back when i was looking for steel, if it can take being ran through the ground and hit large rocks with little or no damage, its got to make a good knife and it does. would you want a piece to make a knife out of?

It's amazing the creative design, craftsmanship and on top of all that a very durable usable knife.

I like the entire knife, stem to stern, :) Just doesn't get any better IMO :)

I own Plowshares III-- which is very much like this one but with a polished blade-- and I can tell you that it's as fine a knife as anyone could ever hope to own and as near perfect as any cuctom knife could ever be. Whoever buys this will not be disappointed plus, Robert is a great to work with. Oh yeah, it's gonna be sharrrrrrrrrrp!

Nice Work!

Great looking knife Robert I really like it. I have a pile of those spring cultivator tines. How or what steel do you heat treat them like?

Richard,

Thanks, but I have access to some of those discs. They should make dandy little knives. At least now they won't have to toil all day long in the dirt and rocks.

Stuart,

Normalize 3 times, then I quench this stuff at 1475 in vet-grade mineral oil that is heated to 135 degrees. I do a two hour tour in the oven at 400, then do my finish grinding, then back to the oven for two more hours at 425.

Seems to work well.

Thanks for the comments gang. I had fun with this one.

Robert

I love this knife. The gentle curve from tip to but is very nice and the antique finish suits it well.
