Hello, Everyone!

I just received a 3.5 lb PLUMB axe head, single bit, from E-Bay. The axe came to me from my home state and town of Hohenwald, Tennessee.

I was very surprised that the hardening & tempering line was very apparent without even a vinegar bath. I got out the ruler an measured the axe head.Tthe hardening & tempering was precisely 2 ". WOW! This means that I have a PLUMB axe that is in great shape and I haven't lost any material sharpening or grinding. The axe has no pitting, has a nice gray patina, and the surface is as smooth as a baby's butt. WHAT A FIND! I'M TICKLED T DEATH! I also appreciate a member of this forum that gave us information about PLUMB axes with the 2" of edge treatment.

THE AXE WILL BE HANDLED WITH A PERFECT, STRAIGHT GRAINED, PERFECTLY WHITE, SINGLE BIT CURVED HICKORY HANDLE. MY SUPPLIER OF HICKORY HANDLES MAKES TWO VERSIONS OF HANDLES FOR ME. (1) OLD FASHIONED OCTAGON(EIGHT SIDED) AND (2) A NORMAL ROUNDED HANDLE. EITHER HANDLE IS UTTERLY BEAUTIFUL TO LOOK AT AND EXTREMELY COMFORTABLY WHEN IN YOUR HAND. THE SHAPE AND CONTOUR OF THE HANDLES ARE WONDERFUL. MY FAVORITE IS THE OCTAGON HANDLE, BUT IT COST MORE TO MANUFACTURE. MOST OF THE TIME I DO NOT HAVE TO SHAVE OR SAND THE HANDLE TO FIT INTO THE AXE HEAD. PLUMB, KELLY, COLLINS, ETC. ARE JUST FITTED AND NO
SHAPING OF THE HANDLE IS NEEDED. ALSO, THESE HANDLES ARE NOT BULKY CLUBS. THEY ARE SLIM BUT NOT TOO SLIM.

If any of you guys are interested in beautiful, high quality axe handles, maybe we can work something out.

We want pictures

From your description it sounds like your Plumb may have had a vinegar bath before you got it.

Hi! A friend will help me get the photos on this site. Please be patient and I will get it done.

And I hope you enjoy Johnson City, Tn. It's a nice small town with a population of about 55,000-60,000(more?)

I'd like to see pictures of the handles. And if you can post some key dimensions then that would be helpful, too.
