I can't wait to get this one put together.
I have another 1.75lb rafting head awaiting a Scandi forest axe handle. Man these GB handles are nice out of the box!
Plenty of meat on the handle! I had to shave it down a bit.
Cleaning up the edge
Boom!
I do believe most of my European axes are going up for sale now. I really like this combo!

That axe wants to be used. Nice quality pairing there.

These patterns are marked on what I guess would be the "standard side" like yours and near the poll on the other.

Makes me wonder if there is possibly a difference in poll hardening? The one I have is marked the other side and shows mushrooming. Or maybe different levels of hardening or if any of them are hardened but sport those bevels.

Regardless, that is great looking tool!

Beautiful job on that hang. I too am a greater fan of the utility of 'boys'-weight Cedar patterns than that of Hudson Bays! I think the jury is still out with regard to Cedar pattern Plumbs (with bevelled polls) being indicative that the tops are hardened but it certainly looks to be you were fortunate with yours. I did notice the chip out of the top and the lack of mushrooming.
That combination ought to make for one durable trailblazer or camper's special (or even truck axe) that no amount of money (nor wishful thinking) can currently 'buy off the shelf', and I can certainly see why the appeal of Scandinavian choppers, for you, has suddenly waned.

Thanks 300six!

You're very welcome. For a forum member whose moniker is unfamiliar (to me) you certainly have kept abreast of forum axe news/gossip and service advice and then taken your end of 'completing a hang' entirely to heart.
