In the past year or so I slowly caught the axe bug. Yesterday I scored what seems to be an all original Plumb Victory Fireman's Axe. Im trying to find information on how/why Plumb Victory heads differ from the other Plumb heads. Not having much luck.

I believe they were made in the first 5-10 years (I think) following WWII and they were celebrating the US' Victory.

Here it is next to a 6 lb. Council Dayton. Are these sought after anymore than other Victory Plumbs? I planned on re-hafting and seeing how it does splitting hardwood. Its got that Dayton beat by half a pound and a little more cheek. If its more of a collector though I may have other plans for it.

Not celebrating the victory but helping to win the victory by increasing production by lowering the level of finish. American tool makers were all 'drafted' into supporting the war effort and rewarded handsomely with defense contracts. Plumb was contracted to produce entrenching tools and maybe other things.
