Can Some One Tell Me A Good Way To Get Plung Lines Even And Uniform? I Have Ground My 2nd Blade And It Is Better Than The First However I Am Having A Little Trouble In That Area. I Am Using A Kmg With Rotory Platen. Thanks.....tim

My frst step after scribing the center line is to take a 40 grit belt and hog the bevels about 1/2 way to the center line. I always start my plunge a bit forward of where I want it to end. I then step it back a tiny bit each grit I increase. Getting them even is usually a patience thing. Otherwise, you can always take a nail or file wrapped with sandpape and clean them up by hand....

It takes a long time to get that down, in the meantime settle for cleaning them up with a file. As time goes on the need for the file will be reduced dramatically.

Do u have a flat platen with your KMG?

I'd recommend cutting the plunge with the flat platen first...then switching to the rotary later.

There is too much flex in the very edge of the rotary platen to get a clean shoulder when you are "hogging" it in.

Here is a simple jig you can make for the perfect plunge lines for new makers. As you gain confidence you won't need it. Than you get old like me and your hands get shaky and you use it every day.

It is 01 with 1/4 inch holes. Quench and your ready to use.
