I love forging my knives as close to finish as possible, but always found that the plunge is slightly washed out. No matter how precise you are at hammering, getting a plunge crisp and neat is near impossible with just a hand hammer. I was curious if any of you made a spring filler type of setup to get perfect crisp plunges?
I was viewing this thread, and the photo by Terry Vandeventer really sparked my interest. That blade looks like it was ground then reheated, and I would love to get my plunges and bevels looking that neat!
