The BK7 was recently referred to as a "sharpened pry bar" due to its blade thickness. Just wondering if there are any others in the same price range, with the same thick-bladed characteristics. 7 - 9" blade maybe. Something geared toward chopping, hacking, prying and abuse. Not spendy. Is the BK7 what I'm looking for, or something else?

cheers

what price range did you have in mind? if you are looking for the absolute lowest price knife among all thats out there, then i would have to agree with Warriorsociologist. the old ka-bar is just the ticket. i picked one up off the bay brand new in the box for my bro-in-law's bithday last april for just shy of $40. shipped to my door. the same knife on-line is nearly $100. anywhere else.

Ranger makes what appears to be a great lower end 7 inch blade in the RD7.

Scrap Yard is coming out with a great 6 inch or so low end knife with a Res C handle.

Swamp Rat makes great blades, but the only 6 to 7 inch blades on the market right now are more expensive, at least $150.

Good luck.

Ka-Bar Heavy Bowie can be had for around $40.00, it's thicker than the bk-7. Becker tac-tool or brute might be more what you are looking for, but they will set you back about twice as much.

If you like the BK7 I think you would also like the Tactool. It definitely fits your definition of sharpened prybar.
