I have a PM-2 with one of the pivot screws that I can't get loose

You can turn the screw back & fourth about 1/10 of a turn & then it gets hard, I don't want to break it off or strip it

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

I worked on a pm2 and yojimbo recently, both new from the dealer and both marked 4/16. The screws were all slathered with RED loctite!
Not sure if this is a new thing or maybe a bad april fools joke... those free spinning standoffs and stop pin make it a real PITA.

Definitely heat the screw first. Tighten it down all the way and use a quick snapping motion to break it free. Make sure the screwdriver is firmly seated and push down so it doesnt slip out. Good luck and be careful!

at worst send it in, they have the proper tools to get it moving. You could specify you want it back without any loctite what so ever, planning to make some maintenance yourself in the future.

Interesting. I have seen blue Loctite on some of their knives but never the red stuff. Moreover, after cleaning and reassembly I have never used any Loctite that I can I recall and I have never had any problem losing a screw or even with them coming loose.

I brought this up a few months ago, red loctite on my blurple PM2 every other screw.

I to have never had a prob with loosening.
A good compromise might be PURPLE Loctite. It is about like chewing gum. Also I find bee's wax to be perfect for very small screws. It is just a touch sticky (?honey?) but can always loosen the screws.

RED or even BLUE is just insane on such small screws; way too much "lock" for that size fastener.
