Every pm2 that I've owned with a dlc blade doesn't drop shut like the blades without it. Am I just getting the sticky ones, or are they pretty much all that way ? The ones I've had without it drops shut smooth as butter. Kinda makes me not want to get the coated blades. What are yalls experiences with it ?

I have three PM2s and just ordered a BD1N aluminum one! Here they are:
My short answer is that, through my experience with 5 comp lock knives, 3 with DLC, is that the DLC has no effect on smoothness. My smoothest, second smoothest, and tie for last smoothest are all DLC.
The standard that I judge all comp locks on is by my girlfriend's Sage 5 (Which is DLC, in M4), that comp lock almost acts like a button if you are holding it even slightly askew, it is awesome. I find that the shutting goes in this order: The S45VN is most stiff but comes in and out easily when even slightly manipulated, but if you hold it upside down and press the button, it does nothing. Stiffest comp lock I have next to the Yojumbo DLC, which also has those same rules of, will not open by just turning it over and unlocking, but will open very easily with manipulation, through either button-open, thumb, or Spydieflick.

The Cruwear used to be REALLY bouncy, has since settled in and is now really good. It is very close to perfect. The copper REX 45 DLC is the smoothest of the PM2s, only that Sage 5 being smoother, but they are around the same level of smoothness.

I have an all black PM2 and a Para3 that I bought in late 2017. Both drop "startlingly" quick. Both have very minimal blade play (with tightened pivots), certainly not enough for me to even mention, but that may have a bearing in why they seem to be friction free. I don't think i would want them to be any "free-er" than they are.

They seem to take longer to break in out of the box, but once they do they are smooth as butter in my experience.

Agreed with Jordan, they sometimes take a little longer to break in. I wonder if the differing texture between DLC and TiCN or similar makes a difference? My comp lock knives are all pretty smooth and while some are pretty smooth out of the box, it's always the ones I use regularly that smooth out the first/most.

If you disassemble (gasp!) a DLC model that has been well broken in,
you will clearly see where the detent ball has worn a semi-circular track in the coating.
