I really like this knife specially with m4 steel.
The issue is that my wife and son also does and I’ve had this knife confiscated by said members of my household.

I bought my wife the s90v version and reprocessed the m4 version. However my son really liked the m4 and it has been confiscated again. Yes I could be a jerk and get them back. I’de prefer to support the interest in having a knife.

I would like to have another m4 pm3 lw however I’m unsure about a release date. Does anyone have inside knowledge of future releases?

I could get the s90v however I much prefer the m4 or something closer to it.

I don't know of any planned releases in M4. What I will say is you might consider the cutlery shoppe exclusive in CTS-XHP. I really like CTS-XHP, I feel its very well balanced. Good edge retention, decent toughness, while steel being pretty corrosion resistant. Its also not as difficult to sharpen.

That sounds like a winner !
I haven’t tried CT’s-xhp yet, but they are oos!

I haven’t tried CT’s-xhp yet, thank you !
I've had my sprint run Manix 2 in CTS-XHP for 9 years, and I enjoy it. It doesn't keep that "super sharp" edge all that long, but it stays working sharp for a very long time. I've yet to chip or roll the edge, or have any corrosion issues.

I would jump but they’re out of stock. Unless you think they’re being released again ?

I believe they have regular runs of them, but they are popular.

I can get s90v, I have s90v knives I don’t use them much. I haven’t seen chipping and not looking forward to sharpening.
I have the Para 3 LW in M4 and agree it's a great little knife.

Do you mean you have seen chipping in S90V? If not I wouldn't be too worried about sharpening; if you are happily sharpening M4 then S90V doesn't take too much longer to sharpen as long as you are using diamond stones or similar. I've got a PM2 in S90V and it isn't too bad.

There is also the SPY27 model to consider as well. Very well rounded steel, although compared to M4 you lose a bit of toughness(better toughness than S90V though) for corrosion resistance. It should be a bit quicker to sharpen as well. I haven't tried SPY27 yet but most of the reports I've seen say that it performs surprisingly well even knowing it is in the same sort of class as S35VN.

I only have one knife in S90V and it has no chipping issues, sharpened (well more touched up multiple times, I like it. It's in a ZT 0095BLK.

Yeah, unless someone is pretty rough with their knives, I don't think most people should see chipping issues with S90V. I like it a lot also

i meant it as stated- I have not seen chipping in s90v. I have seen chipping in cv20 and Rex 45 which was making me leery of high wear resistance.
M4 has been perfect and s30v as well.
I did not enjoy using s45vn seemed to soft for me

you guys seem pretty confident in S90v, I suppose I should bite on that one.

Depends on what you use it for. Rex45 has better toughness on paper than S90V, but any steel can chip especially if it is a factory edge that has been overheated in the factory sharpening process.

I guess it depends on how patient you want to be. I'm guessing eventually you'll get another run of Para 3's with M4 sooner or later.

There is the Tenacious in M4 that has just dropped if you are happy to try a different Spyderco.

I have heard and believe that with those two knives you are likely correct. Most likely was a burnt / over heated edge.

That is a good suggestion !
The tenacious I will need to look at again, I do have other Spyders on the ready. I also have GB2 as a excellent example of m4.

The pm3 lw is just a great knife that keeps getting away from me. Maybe I should hold for the manix lw sounds tempting.
