PM2 back order

Hey guys, I've been a Spyderco fan for a couple of years now. Been carrying an Ambitious for a good bit. I thought I'd take the dive and get a PM2. Handled a couple at a local knife store (overpriced there) and thought this is it. Sold a knife to pay for it to be ordered through a friend of mine that has a small FFL/ outdoors store. This was the first week of September. Does this seem normal to you guys to be on back order this long? Everyone I've asked said the wait will be worth it, but I'm getting a bit antsy.
Thanks.

The PM2 is one of Spyderco's most popular knives, and I've heard that production constraints at the Golden factory mean it's often backordered for months. But some online retailers do currently list the Paras in stock. What version are you trying to get? Maybe cancel your order with your friend and reorder through another retailer. Check out this list of Blade Forums supporting dealers. A bunch of them have PM2s in stock:

Yep, cancel your order and get one from one of our paying dealers in the link.
You will be helping our site, and you'll be getting a knife from a great dealer that has one in stock now.

I have 3 PM2's for sale if your interested.
Black/satin
Black/black
Digicam/satin

I have seen "droughts" for brand newly ordered PM2's in the past, but often many retailers will have several in stock so you just have to search around.

I guess I'll give him a few more days then we will need to talk. Seems the day he ordered mine, the reseller had 10 and some person/place bought all 10 of them.

Just make sure your friend is purchasing his Spydercos from an authorized distributor... not sure if he, or you, are aware of the plague of horrible Paramilitary 2 counterfeits that have flooded the market!

I've got a hinky feeling about this.

You've been blown off for a couple of months for a commonly available model and suddenly, when you want to cancel, he micracously is supposed to ship it next week?!

BTW, did you compare your price to those of the vendors above?

Well I've had a hinky feeling, but not at my friend, but at his vendor. I think it's his vendor blowing him off. Hope anyways.
I wasn't a member here when I ordered, but the price is I think competitive before taxes. But it still much cheaper than some places I've seen too.
