Hey guys I recently bought my first pm2 and once it broke in I noticed that if it is loose enough to drop shut, it has blade play. But if I tighten it enough to not have blade play, the blade is super tight when i open and close it. Please let me know if any of you had the same problem and how you fixed it.

My PM2 had a little blade play too.

It went away on its own. The knife eventually locked up tight all directions but would drop shut.

I have had some side-to-side play in mine to. I loosened the stop pin, thightened the pivot and then adjusted the stop pin again. That helped a bit, now I will try to wear it in a bit before doing anything else

Had you made adjustments/modifications to the knife (adjusting/"tuning" the pivot or other screws counts)?

I think it's pretty common on the PM2 to have a little blade play but I doubt it'll ever really matter.

If it bugs you, you should look at a CRK Inkosi. It's the most rock solid folder i've ever seen.

Yea it very well could be the stop pin screws as others have said. I really hate how stop pin screws affect the action on some knives. However, when you get it adjusted correctly, it gets really nice and smooth and without blade play. I'd recommend loctiting the stop pin screws because sometimes to get the action you want they wont be as tight as you'd normally tighten a body screw. I'd recommend lightly polishing the washers on both sides on a strop or denim with a little metal polish too. Just about 10 circular motions on each side is all it takes. Put a tiny bit of oil in it, and the action is almost always at least twice as nice. It really works good for me.

I usually tighten it to JUST NOT drop shut (or shut with slight wrist), with no play. With use and deployment, the compression lock and washers etc almost always wear in and become smooth.

Good luck!
