Ryan Milligan of Knockwood Blades was kind enough to collaborate w/ me on this knife. I chopped down a PM2 into a mini w/ modified sheepsfoot blade profile, roughly the size of a Para3 but w/ a little less handle. Milligan made the canvas micarta scales, which fit to a tee, and really enhance the feel in hand.

I like it...

A few years ago i was thinking of taking a standard black military and doing something similar. Never worked up the balls to dp it though

I'm loving these chopped down Spydercos I keep seeing. Are they all being done by different people? I know one of the most popular ones is the baby Southard or whatever they call it.

I think the baby Southard may have a new rival though, this PM2 mod looks SICK! I love it! The PM2 is such a great knife but two of my biggest gripes about it was the thin tip and poor handle to blade ratio. This mod seems to fix both those and essentially leave you with a whole new knife rather than just a "sawed off" Para2.

Great Job I love it.

I love my Para 2s, but I will say that your mod is exceptionally well done and I like it as well.

Thanks Lapedog. Kevin Smock was the one to make the mini-Southard. I was fiending for one and couldn't afford it, so copped a user off the exchange and tried it myself. Got hooked, and have been chopping down lots of knives, mostly Spydies, in the past year. So it's possible that some of the others you've seen have been my work too. Smock is the OG pioneer though!

Well you are doing a wonderful job continuing their legacy.

I know it is not really a chopped knife as such but I always found the flipper mod Alexander Dietz (or whatever his name is) was doing to those Boker Kwaikens the thumb disk versions. The thumb disk versions didn't come with a flipper and by grinding off the corner of the scales he made them into an amazing unique flipper.

Yeah, that's an inspiring mod for sure. I tried doing something similar to make a thumbstud opener into a front flipper, but couldn't get the geometry quite right to get a good flipping action happening. Dietz got it down pat w/ those Kwaikens - I'm sure that inspired Boker to come out w/ their own flipper production version.

I like the the Dietz mod better than Boker's take on the flipper.

Dietz's mod means you get a thumbdisk and that unique flipper style where there is no tab, just an exposed corner of the tang. I think it is such a cool way to make a flipper.
