Pm2 crazy lock stick

Got a new pm2 from dlt yesterday and it's got some insane lockstick. I can barely get it to disengage half the time. Wife can't get it to disengage 90% of the time...like at all, no go, lock is stuck tight enough to the point I thought my finger was gonna bleed.

First video is borderline NSFW cuz I let the f word slip, it shows the lock at its worst though. Other 2 videos the lock wasn't acting as bad.

What should I do? I emailed dlt asking if an exchange is possible but they probably won't respond back till next week. Anything I should try until then?

Personally I'd put it back in the box and wait for DLT's response, a return will be the simplest option.

If you want a non-invasive possible fix, clean both locking surfaces with a small amount of rubbing alcohol. I've had lock stick caused by oil or miscellaneous schmutz clear right up after a quick cleaning.

Tried cleaning all locking surfaces, no dice.

Hopefully dlt can help me out, if not then I'll probably try to sell it and just buy another pm2 lol

Edit: Obviously I'd let any buyers know about the lock stick, before anyone gets mad at me lol

I can't imagine they wouldn't accept a return, I just sent a knife back that arrived with scratches on the blade and they responded promptly and even paid return shipping with full refund. I'd box it back up and try another pm2 as it is a really good knife when working right

I almost exclusively buy from dlt because of how great their staff is, I'm hoping they'll take care of me. This would be my first return out of a loooooot of orders lol.

I love the pm2, it's one of my all time favorite knives. It was my first "good" knife and now here I am 7 years later with about 30 of them.

Just send it back to DLT, don’t mess with it any more and definitely don’t try to mod it per any potential suggestions that might come up. DLT will accept returns for unused knives. Just return it and buy another one… or better yet, buy one from the exchange that you can be sure works properly.

So my PM2 had INSANE stick out of the box, and I found a remedy for my specific knife. After a disassembly, lube got on the underside of the stop pin causing the worst stick every time. I held the knife open blade side up spine down, held the compression lock open, and carefully with a q-tip cleaned the underside of the stop pin. Haven’t had an issue since.

I’d just return it to DLT. I always ask in the notes when purchasing a knife that they inspect it for centering and a good action. They always do and I’ve never had a problem.

DLT is awesome.

Speaking of DLT, my 2nd exclusive DLT PM2 in 20cv came in today, I turned it into this….

I kept the other with the tan g10 stock, just added a black lynch clip.
Mannnnnn, you stole my thunder 😂 I have a set of aramis cf scales coming for my dlt pm2.

I haven't taken a pm2 completely apart in a few years...how was getting the lanyard tube out? I remember resorting to violence last time I tried.

SDK sells a tool that helps in removing the pressed in lanyard tube for the pm2, para 3, manix 2 etc. If you google it you will find it. Very much worth the $20 I paid for it (price may have gone up with inflation though)
