I tried taking apart my para 2 but am stuck at trying to separate the handles. I got all the screws out and now the handles are only stuck together by the lanyard hole thing at the back. How do I take that piece apart and fully separate the handles?????

I've heard sticking the handles in the freezer helps since it makes the metal contract just enough that you can pry the lanyard tube out of its grooves. Never done it myself but the questions come up before and I've seen others speak highly of it

I thought I was going to ruin the tube when I took mine out,I just did it very slowly-I moved my scale up/down kind of like you would remove a bottle cap from a bottle.
putting it back on was much easier, and it looked like new. good luck.

I used a plastic pry bar and worked it down one side between the G10 and the metal, then the other. Repeat. Eventually there was enough clearance to twist them apart.

This is the way I do it. I dot have a plastic prybar, but the rubberized handles on my needle files work perfectly. Slow and even pressure is key.

The lanyard tube is pressed/flared at the ends. Pull harder.

lol tried this first and it actually worked:D..pulled pretty much as hard as i could an got one of the handles off, but now the pin is still stuck in the other handle and won't budge, gotta get it fully separated as i just bought custom handles for the para 2

I tried the freezer trick with mine and I don't think it helped much. I think it took me nearly 2 hours to completely get the lanyard tube out from the factory scales.

The only thing that worked was a lot time, a good strong pull, and twisting. It sucks, but fortunately it should be easier to get it into your new scale. Good luck!

thanks for the help guys..finally managed it by slowly prying the liners of out from under the scales until the lanyard tube gave way, so am enjoying my new scales now:D

I found that a 0.25" wooden dowel helps push the lanyard tube out of the scale without damaging either the scale or the tube. At all costs - AVOID the temptation to grip the lanyard tube with a pair of vice grips and twist it out. You'll get it out, but you'll probably damage it in the process...

the only thing to remember when reassembling is that he pivot bushing has a flat spot on one side and has to sit in the liner that way. I would put that side in first and put the screw in to hold it in place. the rest is a snap.

Glad you got it apart and back together. Ditto on the pic's.

I did mine today and used a 1/4" punch on the lanyard tube after getting the non-lock side off by hand. Placed the punch against the lanyard tube on the scale side and placed the lock side over a 1/2" drive socket and tapped the punch until the lanyard tube pushed through the G10 scale. Never bothered removing the tube from the stainless liner. Here's my result:
