Seen failures (mostly Manix 2 Maxamet) posted on the various forums over the years, not the PM2 though. Send it in the warranty is your best option!View attachment 2898799View attachment 2898800View attachment 2898801
Anyone else ever had a knife come apart on them like this. Full thickness. Pretty much held together by the spidey hole. I never use my knives to pry. Owned this one at least five years. Is it because of the 110v steel? Have no idea what warranty would cover but I’ll give them a shout too.
It's thin stock. I owned four of them and ended up selling them all. The tips were too weak and I bent one or two cutting not prying. When you have a thin stock, ground thin, and they have some slightly deep, (grind lines) which can help start a fracture. Good luck with the outcome.Seen a couple with it happen in various steels. Contact customer service and see what they say
I'm not sure I agree with the previous poster that it's due to a defect if it gave five years of work though.
I just got one, it's a needle tip. I like it a lot though and hoping being Magnacut makes it a little tougher to break.I really like Spyderco, I want a military 2 compression lock, but I am worried about tip damage.
I've only done one. I posted a pic in the beater thread. I was prying hard and it held up well. It's completely my fault. However, the tips on my PM2 knives were too thin and easily bend. I think it's well known. I'm a medium to hard use user.I've never broken a knife tip in 40+ years of carrying a pocket knife. Just lucky, I guess.
I'd like to introduce you into a little life hack called "pryin' stuff".I've never broken a knife tip in 40+ years of carrying a pocket knife. Just lucky, I guess.
