Hello fellas, not sure im in the rite place new to the forums. But was wondering.

Where would be the best place to find a para2 in maxamet or cruwear? Ebay prices are crazy..

Here on the folding knives sale forum. Or, post a WTB stating what you're looking for. AFIK, they're sold out at suppliers.

I thought this was going to be an "either/or" question rather than a "where" question. I have had more in the past, but am quite happy now with only three PM2s: Cruwear, Maxamet, and Rex45. Good luck in your search. Your choices are both big winners in my book.

Cruwear get my vote as I have snapped a Maxamet blade in half before doing normal jobs that my other knives handle just fine.

Different ends of the steel spectrum IMO. One is extremely wear resistant but relatively brittle and stains slightly, whereas the other is pretty darn tough with decent wear resistance and barely stains.

The Maxamet version is supposed to be a standard production model, but they seem OOS at the moment. Give it a little time and that might change.

I use all my knives, bit dont abuse them in anyway. The cruwear on ebay is around 300.00 and im one of those that when I want something im pretty impatient on waiting. Mite just have to bite the bullet.

You're not going to see anything stellar in performance between Cruwear and those steels you just mentioned. They're all great steels. Just do maintenance on your blades and keep them sharp, and you'll be fine for years, no matter what the steel is.

I am obsessive about my knives being sharp. My dad always said,( a knife isnt a knife if it wont cut)
And I have always lived by that

Get you some white out, take one of the others you have, carefully cover the blade steel marking with the white out and relabel it Cruwear. o_O
No need to thank me for saving you $300.00

Ha ha! That's one way to do it!

Me too, haha.

Anyway, yeah the best way to do it is first post here under the WTB forum. I've also had good luck recently finding stuff on Reddit and dare I say it, one of the several FB Spyderco groups.

Me personally, I wouldn't ever buy a knife from eBay. But to each their own........

Good luck on your search. If you have some patience the Maxamet will return to retailers on occasion as it's a production model. You just have to be quick on the trigger.
