I finally broke down and purchased my first Spyderco ever. It's a PM2, digi camo, w/ DLC blade. When I purchased the knife I wasn't aware that fakes were such a big issue with these knives. From all I have read and looked at, I am 95% sure mine is legit. I'm looking for that absolution though, so I am hoping some of you guys can help.

Thanks a lot in advance. :-)

10-4, I've had it almost a week now and just could not convince myself beyond any and all doubt.

All the points i would look to for authenticity appear to be good. I say legit!! Congrats and enjoy.

It's legit, now use it like you stole it, the black coating is too perfect, it requires battle scars to look good

:D No doubt. Definitely going to be my new work horse. CRKT's have consistently fallen on their face.

I bought my two from Amazon after doing extensive reviews, they are legit; if you ever have an issue Amazon will help make it right, though those are far & few between... :)

I appreciate everyone's feedback.
I am curious though, what is the dead ringer that it's authentic?

3 things I look for and have been 100% success thus far.

1. The lock release tab, the clone has shorter shaped tab

2. The laser engraving is at an angle to the plunge line, most clones I've seen has them lined up to the plunge line

3. Gimping behind the Spyder hole, especially the lower ones that seats below your thumb when holding the knife at open position should point toward the back of the knife, this gives maximum grip when you push your thumb forward. Try it out you will feel it. The clones follow the curve and point to the middle of the curvature.

Never trust the big river. You got lucky.

They sell real knives. The problem is people buying real knives and returning fakes or the wrong item. I bought a GB on there and received a Tenacious in a GB box with GB papers. Some unscrupulous person returned the wrong knife. I returned it no problem and ordered another, which was real.

^^^ LOT of this going on.....I try to stay away from that river!

It's just a gamble is all I'm trying to say. I prefer once and done, but if you like calling people up and returning things, and having to wait, it's no problem for me. I've saved myself a heap of BS by staying away from the river and epray.
