PM2 pivot bushing?

Hello, I am new to this forum and it looks to be a wealth of information. I apologize if this hase been previously discussed. I am the new owner of a 2nd hand Spyderco Paramilitary 2. I have taken it apart, mainly because I can't leave anything alone, lubed it and reassembled it. If I tighten the liner screws and then snug the pivot screws the blade is very stiff. I have read other threads by individuals with the same or similar problem and have read their solutions. Im curious though if the pivot bushing is suppose to be slightly wider than the blade so that the liners press against the bronze washers, which then press on the pivot bushing...instead of pressing the washers agains the blade? The bushing on this particular PM2 does not appear to by at all wider, not ever the slightest as I can tell with my naked eyes. So it appears that when I tighten the pivot screws that they are just pressing the washers against the blade which makes the action very stiff and no way for it to just "break-in"over time. As it is I have just backed out the pivot screws to where the friction seems right to me. Just wondering if this is normal? - thanks

Yes, this is normal. It's not a true bushing--it's actually a stepped pivot. Some people like it a lot, and other's not as much. I'm in the latter camp.
