I recently picked up the micarta pm2 cruwear and now the G10 standard one since I sold my old one like a dummy. I messed with the pivot some to get it to shut smoother but now when the blade closes there is a metallic cling that I don’t remember on my old G10 model. The micarta doesn’t do that at all. I can’t locate where it is coming from.

Is the blade rubbing against the liners when you close it?
I don’t think so. I’ve closed the blade with my hand slowly and don’t feel anything. I tightened the pivot back and it kind of went away. If it slow closes on its own there is a little clink.
I don’t remember my old G10 one making that sound.

If it’s centered, and the blade isn’t contacting the spacers when closing (which isn’t really possible on a PM2), you don’t have anything to worry about. My guess is you have the pivot loose enough that the free-fall of the blade makes it contact the blade stop and bounce making that noise. If it bothers you, try tightening up the pivot. “Drop-shutty” isn’t always a good thing. I keep my PM2 loose enough to fling closed with my wrist, but not drop-shut. A happy medium.

It came pretty stiff, where I couldn’t wrist flick it either. Guess I went too far the other way lol. Does only one screw on the pivot turn? The other one is very tight and I didn’t want to strip it out.

It’s weird that the Crucarta version dropped shut out of the box but never made that noise. Oh well. The G10 is my beater knife anyway. Thanks for your help!

It’s a bushing pivot with a screw on both sides. You’ll need to hold one in place to adjust the other… maybe.

I tuned mine up so it wasn’t drop shut just to see how that feels and over the course of an hour using it outside it started to loosen up. Weird. Hope the screws aren’t bad.

Yea I think it's nylon. I picked up this trick messing with balisongs. Its something like a makeshift nylock nut. Never dries up so you can adjust it a little tighter or looser as time goes on. Normally a little tighter.

I forget which way to wrap it without having a screw infront of me, but that matters too. It's the same way as teflon tape and a threaded fitting. The other way it might walk out as you tighten it.
