im looking at buying a paramilitary 2 in either s30v or s110v

which is better for edc use (boxes paper general cutting tasks indoors etc)

which steel is stronger against chipping or breaking
(worried about the PM2 tip breaking)

just heard a store is releasing an M4 paramilitary 2 tomorrow!

is M4 the better option than s30v and s110v?

M4 is going to be superior to S30V in every respect other than corrosion resistance. The edge retention and cutting ability will be far superior. I can't speak on S110V because I have no experience with the steel.

from what im reading M4 will ease any tip breaking issues i might have had with s30v or s110v

Any tip can break if pushed, but M4 will be tougher. It is not stainless if that matters to you.

Personally I prefer S30V. I sold both my S110V Spyderco's. Don't get me wrong S110V is awesome and holds a cutting edge for ages, but it seems to loose a hair shaving edge just as fast as S30V. My preference is for a knife with a wicked sharp edge all the time. And I don't mind touching up a little more on S30V if required for my EDC uses.

Your observations are accurate but S30V does chip more than S110V in my use so far. And I have had S30V get rust spots which I haven't had on S110V so far. Cruwear is still the best all around I have used

From owning and using all three steels mentioned..... I LOVE my M4 knives, great choice I'd say. It's a great steel and honestly I don't find the rust thing an issue or haven't yet. I just wipe my knives dry on a cloth if I've cut fruit or food. And I give them a weekly wipe with tuff glide if EDC'd. I've had no corrosion yet.

I prefer the S110V for the corrosion resistance.
The PM2 in dark blue are readily available now from several dealers.

Once you have a problem with M4 it is rather permanent staining or pitting on the blade.

I have a Mantra in M4. I was worried about it not being stainless, but I haven't had any issues. I like the steel.

I ordered a PM2 in M4 from BHQ,,, will give it a fair trial comparison with my new PM2 in S110V.

Could not resist with great price from BHQ.
