PM2 S35VN real or fake?

I think this is real, but the only thing throwing me for a loop is the lanyard tube. It's not the usual chamfered style I've seen in the past on my pm2's that I sold off. Have they changed to a different style? Also, new, it came with nearly stripped out scale screws. The pivot screws seemed fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the grind being off center through the hole is normal. I was just reading about it on the Spyderco facebook page yesterday. Spyderco decided it was an improvement I guess. Mine is the same way. What does your lanyard tube look like? Chamfered or look like its milled to slip through the hole without the normal "press the heck out of it to fit in there."? Mine on the box says it was made DQ = April 2017

Hmm, I wonder if Spyderco just decided to finally get away from the press in chamfered tubes? Everything else on mine looks legit. From the curves on the g10 cut out around the compression lock lever, to the screws. Even the liner cut marks with the weird little "w" where the water jet or whatever they use comes back around to the start point of the cut. Lettering looks legit. Clip looks right. Etch on the clip looks good, but lanyard tube is off. I got mine from KnifeCenter and they seem to be reputable. But I know everyone gets duped sooner or later with all these dang fakes running around.

Mine is EQ which I'm assuming is May 2017. To be honest I've never had or handled a fake PM2, but this knife feels and looks as quality as my others. The grind line just caught my eye instantly as being off, and I hadn't heard of them changing it recently. The Cruwear PM2 is a fairly recent release and it still has the angle I am used to.

From the Knife Center, purchased Two weeks ago.

I'm in the same boat. I've had 3 different ones over the last couple years, and never once have picked up a fake. So seeing the lack of chamfering immediately prompted me to get on here and see if anyone else tad the same thing. From the looks of it, they must've changed the tube design, cause yours looks exactly like mine.

How is your blade center? Mine came slightly off with stripped scale screws. And tight as hell. Had to unscrew the pivot screws a hair just to open it. Haha.

Another thing is to the left of the compression lock. Instead of being rounded off like my others, it is cut at an angle.

Mine is exactly the same as well. Thought that was a little odd too, but figured maybe it was just they way they decided to grind it.

Kind of irritates me they make all these changes and never note it anywhere, OR say hey, we made some subtle changes don't be alarmed.

Assuming you got it on Massdrop as well? Mine doesn't drop open, but I've found they get better with time so it didn't bother me. I'd love for @Sal Glesser to pop in and say they are 100% good to go.

I got mine from Knife Center. I also have an email with a bunch of attached pics that hopefully I'll hear something back from them tomorrow. I emailed them today at work asking some questions and they wanted pics, but the knife was at home. And naturally they were closed by the time I fired the new email off to them. As soon as I hear I'll let you know what they said.

Well, this is what Spyderco said.

"It seems to be ours. It looks like the lanyard tube may have not gotten riveted/chamfered but it’s hard to tell from photos. From the photos the screws look normal but again it’s hard to tell. You are welcome to send the knife in for warranty evaluation/repair if you’d like."

I just got the same knife from Knife Center about a week ago too. I didn't look like it was chamfered to the naked eye but I got out my jewelers loupe and looked at it. It's definitely chamfered but it's slight, only about a third of the way across the end of the tube. Try looking at it under magnification.
