Hey guys I'm looking for some aluminum scales for my pm2. RGT(Ripps Garage Tech) makes some. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with these scales. Are they the same thickness as stock or are they thicker? What's the fit and finish like on his scales? Also are there any other people that offer some aluminum ones that might be a better option. Just want a nice set of aluminum scales that wont break the bank. Any help and suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance. Pics always welcome.

I know Casey (theoriginalspaceman on bladeforums) made some nice looking aluminum PM2 scales. I don't know if he has any left but he is a great guy to deal with.

I've seen his. The only thing I didn't like is that they don't use the original liner on the non-locking side. That was the only thing that has made me hesitant. Kinda hate replacing stainless steel with aluminum.

I have two sets of his titanium PM2 grips. Fit and finish is excellent.

Go ahead and shoot Steve (RGT) an email. Good communication from him and excellent fit and finish on his scales. Mine was a 950 Rift, they came out slightly thicker than stock I think. Different knives, so the pm2 may be different.

I don't know how much weight is added with the titanium scale but it's not a lot.

S110V in dark grey hard ano Casey Lynch Al scales. ;). I have zero concern that the lack of a SS liner on the non-lock side would somehow be compromised and lead to a pivot failure. In fact, his scales have such a perfectly executed D-shaped pivot on that side that it's identical to the stock liner version. The equally perfect execution of the rest of the scales should hopefully be obvious from this pic and others in his sales thread. I'm not sure if he has more of these scales available but I could not recommend dealing with him any more strongly. He's very responsive and a true gentleman!

Which ones do you prefer the ti or and aluminum?

Hi Luke, I carry the Al ones but not the Ti ones. The Al set is nearly indistinguishable in weight to the G10. I haven't weighed them yet but they're very close. The Ti set is a bit heavier, similar in feel to the Gayle Bradley folder. I'm trying to keep the scratches off too, although I've put a few snail trails onto them already. Both sets, like all of Casey's other products (clips, prybars), are super high quality. Here's an older pic with his blue prybar. :)

Yup, they're the same thickness :)

As a side note, I dropped this Al PM2 on the concrete floor of my garage last night (what an awful sound :(). It fell and landed directly on the butt end and then bounced a few times across the floor... When I picked it up, I felt it over to find where and how bad the gouges or dents were and amazingly, I found none. After all that, it just has a few scuffs on the rear just below the lanyard tube, but the rest of it is pretty much scratch free. Needless to say I was pretty impressed! (plus the blade didn't get damaged either :))
