PM2 -- should the start of the flat grind be centered on the finger hole?

I just got my second PM2, and I noticed the blade grinds start in very different places on the two of them. Is this typical lot variation? What's it "supposed" to look like?

(I'm talking about the flat grind on the blade here and where it steps down from the tang thickness, not the edge grind)

Seems odd to me that something as simple as grind angle would vary that much on blades from the same model...

That was my thought, but I have a small sample size here

My small sample of duplicates:

PM2 x2 - "same" angle
Para 3 x2 - "same" angle
Chaparral x2 - "same" angle

Some steels are more difficult to machine than others. That can have an effect on the process and outcome.

yes, the blue one is M390 and the black, S30V

It was a CQI update they did on the pm2.
