I managed to get both of dlts sprint runs . Now remember in December, i didnt even own a spyderco.
First came a lil native.
So when i saw the sprint run manix2, i managed to snag one . Now i am a reeve fan . So the manix2 was held to a high standard. It passed with flying colors !
Next i just got the pm2. This is in the m390. It came sharp , centered and smooth.
The blade opened even easier than the manix2 ! Closing the compression lock will take some getting used to.
Of the two the manix2 is my favorite. Cpm 20cv steel is only part of the reason. In over fifty years of carrying a knife . This steel is easy to handle and thats a big plus .
Disadvantages the plastic switch in the ball lock . An order to flytainum and i got one . Now i am going to test the switch or ball lock as flytainum calls it . I truly believe most of the failures on the ball lock were caused by poor assembly. Time with tell .
One last thing cost . Manix2 cost me 129. Pm2 was 169. A small sebenza is 375 .
One could buy almost 3 manix2 for cost of one sebenza.
Now if i could bring my self to put the pm2 through the paces.

Just start using your PM2. I think you'll be happy you did, and you'll quickly find out why it's one of the mainstays in Spyderco's lineup.

I've never seen or even heard of the manix ball cage breaking. MAYBE back in the day with the clear ones, but I haven't seen it personally.

Use the PM2, M390, 20cv and 204p are nearly identical.

I think of the cage like I do polymer guide rods on pistols people tend to think "hey that plastic thing is in my action I'd better replace it" but I dont feel there is a reason to other then looks or if you just think it's a cool upgrade

I only recently got a pm2 but I think all thing being equal I slightly prefer a manix in the hand and I like the lock slightly more

From what I remember people change them out for heavier ones to help with recoil. I think they make some out of tungsten for that reason. I could be wrong, I’ve been out of the gun loop for a while.

Yes. I had a clear one that broke, but I believe that problem was remedied with the black ones.

Both nice knives ... just for my uses the Manix all day everyday over the PM2 ...

Now I am trying out a Military ... the tip down only still throws me off but it's a good enough knife that I'm finally trying to adjust to carrying it some.

I picked up a PM2 in M390 to try it and found I don't care for it. I really like the Manix package much better as a whole. Probably going to sell off my Delicas, Salts, and both of these PM2s now, which probably won't be hard but will still be a pain.

One last thing the manix2, the manix2 just feels heaver. Also the ball lock is easier for me to use one handed.

I picked up a PM2 M390 from DLTs first run last year, and a red Manix in 20cv when they first came out. Both make very good etc knives. The Manix is more of a pocket hog than the PM2, but whatever knife I carry gets used alot for a wide range of cutting chores every day, and the blade shape of the Manix just suits my needs better. Now DLT just needs to put together a big run of Red M390 Native 5s. :)

PM 2 gets my vote for blade style, lock and handle feel. I'm still EDCing my GB1 though because it is a little tougher. But the PM2 is a great all around EDC knife.
