So I got my para2 a couple of weeks back and so far Im in love with it, but the unfortunate happened. I ended up breaking the tip off prolly by a half a millimeter. Im a complete sharpening n00b so I dont want to make it worse. Im going to be sending it back to Spyderco. My question is that I know that reprofile costs 20 bux + 5 shipping, in most cases can they just resharpen it and be done with it or does it have to be reprofiled completely? And if I send the whole 25 in and all it needs is a resharpening will they send the 20 back or how does that work? My PM2 has some very minor side to side blade play so im going to have them look at that too. Please advise. Thanks.

I did email them... It wasn't very clear on how that would work... I'll call em tomorrow

It's best to give warranty and repair a call, BUT they are a small department so you may have to just leave a message and they'll call you back. FYI, it may take 24-48 hours to get a call back though.

That sucks but I have to ask, how did you break the tip?
Just asking so I know what not to do.

Alternative would be to send two checks with the knife, one for $5, one for $20. If they consider it just a sharpening, they will send back the $20 check when they return your knife.

Take into consideration that it's difficult for them to give you an exact quote or diagnosis until they have the knife there to look at. It may seem confusing or vague at times but that is because they can't make promises they might not be able to fulfill. They never know exactly what they have until they can look at it.

I recently sent a Para 2 in because of a broken tip. I included $25 cash with the knife. The tip was not broken enough for them to charge me the $20. The warranty department sent my knife back in like new condition with my $20 bill included.

They will take good care of you!

I think that answered my question. Thanks!

I may end up doing that instead, thanks!

Fell out of my hand while I was cutting something and ended up on its tip.

btw Spyderco got back to me today. And they confirmed thats what they will do, if i send the whole amt of 25 in and all they need is to sharpen it, then they will send back 20 and keep 5 for shipping.
