Thought I'd throw some pics up of a recent project. Poll isn't in too good of shape, but the bits sweet AND has a nice convexed cheek. The profile on this suits me, and the steel is interesting. Just need to find time to finish removing that one nick (I was told to stop filing on the bathroom counter). The one downside is how I hung it. Its a local handmade handle, and I just couldn't get the hang right, and it wound up with the bit hitting at the 2/3rd when laid face down.

Very nice. With a little nick like that, I figure it will smoothe out soon enough with use and sharpening.
I hope you won't rehang it just on principle. It might be just fine as it is.

Great size boys axe, I like it too. One of my hangs is pretty similar, hated it at first but it doesn't bother me anymore.

I never paid that much attention to the hang in that direction, as long as its not too extreme. I would rather have a closed hang like yours that one too open. I think that one will be fine, especially nice for limbing and bucking stuff down low.

nice.

is that one of those Council-tool-style aluminum wedges, or is it just the light?

also, is the head an old GB, or one of the other Swedish makers? the stamp is nice and clear, but I don't see any of the other identifying marks to show who the maker is. doesn't matter, but I am curious. the head looks (shape) like a HB I have.

Thank you guys for the comments and advice. I'm not going to rehang it any time soon, but I'll have to be careful till I get the hang of the hang.

Bjp, its got a CT Aluminum wedge in it, I'm out of wedges and materials to make them currently. And its an unmarked Swedish brand, one of the many mystery heads.

Probably ash if it's natively sourced wood. We have a fair number of ash trees up this way.
