Hi,

Is there a visual difference between a 4116 & a CTS BD1 Pocket Bushman? Or another way to distinguish between the steels?

I bought one early this year but didn't get a box or documentation so not sure which steel type I have.

Thanks.

I think the BD-1 models are probably marked as such on the blade. I don't know for sure, but every CS knife I've bought with the newer steels has been marked to indicate which steel was used. The 4116 PB I have just says COLD STEEL and then TAIWAN beneath that.

Thank you, now I've seen some images of P.Bs with the blade marked CTS BD1 after the Taiwan mark.
So mine's the 4116 with only the Taiwan marking.

Really like this knife a lot.

Thanks again.

The first version recon 1 in xhp didnt come with marked steel, but the box did have a sticker on it showing it had the steel. Point being not sure if the bushman was the same setup as recon 1 or not?

Thanks for the replies.

I know mine is the modified lock version but wasn't sure which steel.

For anyone Googling in the future I have to say I love this knife, caution needs to be used when folding it but I think it's very much worth the bit of extra concentration needed in return for such an incredibly solid lock-up.

I bought this knife after doing a little Googling, so I did see the now famous YouTube video of what I can only describe as an idiot hell bent on breaking a Pocket Bushman, a stupid display of what not to do with a thin slicey blade like the P.B. Quite a good display of just how good the knife is considering what it took before it broke!
