Hey everyone, I think I'm gonna start to edc a small fixed blade, along with my typical larger folder and SAK, is an izula a good size for this? I've never held one, but hear nothing but good things, but just don't know how it'd be in the pocket pocket... Would the candiru be better? Any other suggestions? Thanks! I'm sure this has been talked about before, but with the search function being a mess, I thought I'd ask, I'm hoping to get a few things for my birthday next month

So... Izula in pocket? Compare to candiru, BK14 Eskabar, others?

I have done pocket carry with an Izula. It worked fine for me but I don't mind a lot of stuff in my pocket or on my person. I also EDC a Bradford Guardian3 or a BRKT Bravo Necker 2. And I usually carry a large folder as well :D

I have EDC'd an Izula quite a bit over the years. It works well wrapped with Paracord and in the factory sheath. I typically would carry it in my RF pocket and Vic Farmer in the RR pocket.

I also like to carry to carry in the 11 O'clock position horizontally on my belt. Its very easy to conceal it there.

I prefer the Izula II for the Micarta and a larger handle. But it definitely carries different.

I feel that the best option would be the Standard Izula with TKC G10 scales. I also have that combo, and it adds a nice bit of heft to the knife and transforms the grip without adding to much extra weight.

I often pocket carry my Izula with g10 handles... it fits fine in my front jeans pocket. I don't have any experience with the candiru but love my izula.

I guess I forgot to mention the candiru. I love mine and it disappears in the pocket. But sometimes hard to use in my XL hand

It would work great for the pocket. Her it is in a KSF pocket sheath.

I only carry my Izula in my pocket. It works well in a set of Dockers.

Another good choice is the Kershaw Skinning Knife. It is cheaper and has top flight Sandvik stainless steel. It is about the same size as the Izula, but ever so slightly smaller and comes with G10 scales in orange or black for around $32.

I do all the time. Prefer a simple sleeve type sheath without clip to keep it thin. This is one I made. Real handy to just slip into back pocket or jacket.

I have a Candiru also that I made a simple fold-over kydex sheath for. It's handy but I like the size of the Izula better. The Candiru without the handles is just really tiny, so I usually keep the handles on. But 9/10 times I grab the Izula.

Curiosity is getting the better of me...what knife is hiding in the sheath of this second photo?

Spyderco Street Beat. The sheath has kind of molded to it now. The SB gets the most carry time of my fixed blades.

Dont have an Izulu but I EDC Beckers 11, 24 and 16. Usually right front pocket, phone in the left. A pocket sheath is the ticket. KSF is an easy choice.

The izula is definitely pocketable. I carry mine in a homemade back pocket sheath

And a BK14/24 is comfy in a pocket too

Both of these to in my back left pocket

Jeez, I remember seeing that Kershaw and thinking that it was interesting. Forgot about it though, thanks for the reminder..................... I got a spare Izula 2 specificly as a pocket carry experiment. It worked out perfectly for me.

So what's the verdict on the best ~ 3 inch fixed blade, izula ish size? I hear a lot about the izula... What other good knives are there?

Well - the Böker Plus Pocket Bowie is a nice pocketable fixed blade. I have one and carry it on occasion. It´s quite thinner than the Izula but fits better hand. The steel is 440C and the Izi provides 1095, so personal taste ;)

The Böker is made in China and the Izula in the USA. But the Böker is a nice knife in any way. I really like to carry it around be it in the pocket, the jacket, bag or whatever.

If you want to size down a little more, the Böker Plus Gnome is a good deal for the buck. Made in China and available in 12C27 or 440C.Great tiny fixed blade.
