Has anyone carried one of these deep pocket for a long time? Do you find it annoying when it turns sideways? How do you carry it?

I carry a 5 5/8" hard plastic reading glasses case in my front pocket and have for some years now, so a SAK wouldn't be a problem provided it wasn't too thick/too many layers. I do prefer a SAK on the belt. Same with a sodbuster or a large trapper. In my pocket, I prefer the knife to be 3" or less with two springs max, but one spring is better. That's just me.

Decades ago, that's how I carried my Kamp King, a SAK knockoff except thicker. It wasn't ideal and sometimes annoying, but I just put up with it. At a certain point, I got the bright idea of dummy cording and not long after, dangling it into my RF pocket. Carried with a detachable clip, it was just about forgettable until needed. That is still the way I pocket carry SAK-like objects. It took a long time for me to figure that out. If only Bladeforums had existed then, I would have been spared 15 years of annoyance.

Years ago I can remember thinking that a 3.5" SAK was large and annoying compared to a small Schrade or Buck pen knife. I got used to the feel in my pocket quickly. I have pocket carried up to a Handyman before but now it's an alox soldier. In tighter fitting pants like jeans the length of the 111mm SAKS is downright annoying when they fall sideways though.
What I'm amazed at is the number of people that carry smart phones in their pockets.

Soldier, pretty much all the time since I got one 3 years ago. Doesn't bother me much. I do notice it sometimes. It's my perfect knife though. I carry other knives sometimes, but I always come back the the Soldier. It is THE Swiss army knife. It's the soul of Victorinox. Get one and be done.

I never really notice mine turning sideways; but, it shares the pocket with a lighter and set of keys. Not too much room to turn sometimes. I have never had a sheath for mine; but if I did, it would still be a pocket sheath. I just don't need something that small on my belt. I carry a Farmer all day, every day.

When I carry my Pioneer...9...well 8 times out of 10, I carry it in my rear, right pocket, and it's comfortable to me. Then again, I have grown accustomed to carrying my 3.5" knives like this. I actually want them to sit horizontally. When I carry a thicker SAK, it's usually during a hike and it's in my pack.

A small leather knife slip will help to prevent it from turning sideways in the front pocket.

I use a Tec Suspension Clip on my Compact, as well as my custom Pioneer, and just clip it to my pocket. Either it's clipped to my front left pocket, or back right. If it doesn't have a clip, I find they sit just fine next to my wallet without moving.

I gotta try the "next to wallet position". What do you do with the knife when you get out your wallet? Does it stay put, or fall to the bottom of the pocket? I dress in cargo shorts in summer, dress whites for work (white cotton pants), and jeans in the winter, so it varies a lot.

If I carry a sak with more than two layers, I use a P-7 clip suspension clip in my front right pocket. It works very well and still get to use the pocket to carry other items. :)

All most all the time, I carry the Explorer Plus, which is four layers so I use the clip.

When I grab the wallet, it's pretty much hit or miss with how it falls. Sometimes it falls flat in the pocket, and sometimes it doesn't. It's not the worst thing, as sometimes (depending on the jeans I'm wearing) I don't notice it much after it falls flat. Other times I just adjust it when I put my wallet back.

The suspension clips are invaluable though, and I recommend them highly. I have one right now on the custom SAK I got in, and it's perfect, even for the 91mm size.

I carry my wallet in my right front pocket. Have for about 30 years. Started when I joined the Army. Carry a bandana in my rear right pocket. Got to the point I couldn't understand choosing to sit on a lump in the rear pocket. I also use a hard case plastic wallet that won't expand or allow you to carry a bunch of crap you don't need and haven't even seen since you put it in there.

I'm left handed. Right front pocket are wallet, coins, keys. Left front pocket are reading glasses, comb, pocket knife. Right rear pocket is bandana. Left hip on belt is GEC Bullnose, case trapper, or SAK. Right hip on belt is a revolver (I'm cross dominate, though left handed right eye is dominate). Other than the bandana, I usually keep the back pockets empty. Much more comfortable.
