Pocket Catcher/ XL ESPADA

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a pocket catcher that fell off the back of my XL ESPADA by Cold Steel.

Does anyone know where I could purchase one of these? I got a hold of Cold steel, and they don't have any.

Appreciate any help!
 
I'm not aware of any third-party manufacturers of the Demko thumb plate, unfortunately.

That's a good idea. I didn't know they were all interchangeable.

You might even be able to find a beater/user on the secondary market, since all you need is the plate.

actually im not certain if they are all the same size, im just assuming........looking at my rajah 3 and bush ranger they seem similar although the one on the rajah looks a tad bit thicker
 
Idk what kinds of tools or skills you have, but could always make your own replacement thumb plate if feasible. Cut and shape one out of a piece of appropriately thick metal (ss, brass, copper, aluminum, whatever you like), drill a hole for the screw, and away you go. I'll try to pull and measure the thumb plate screw on my XL Espada asap and let you know the size you need for a replacement. You should be able to find suitable screws from knifekits.com or even perhaps ebay.

Great idea. ... I was on eBay and I noticed a lot of knockoff Spartans for like 29 bucks, I wonder if that plate would fit?
 
That absolutely sucks. I've seen a secondary thing for the "where the thumbstud goes" hole, in a Voyager XL, but I am unsure if they are the same size. If not, call GSM and ask for free parts, like CS gave all the time. When they deny you, you will feel better about buying fake CS for the Demko plate. Here's hoping you are waving that Espada once more soon, sir!
EDIT: Just realized you already hit 'em up.

Thnx comrade! Yeah I don't want to buy a junkie fake if I don't have to, nothing worse than being a sell-out;)

I was going to buy another Spartan, an original, but I just don't have the heart to take off the demko plate...

This would seem a valid warranty issue , unless you abused or disassembled improperly etc .

It's nuts to not have simple replacement parts available , but that's not the consumers' fault .

So the only recourse is to file a warranty claim or DIY fix .
 
Yeah. My knife is a little bit aged. I've had it for about 3 years. It does seem a little bit strange that you can't get replacement parts. Especially when the knife cost as much as it does.

It's cause of the sale of Cold Steel to GSM.
