Pocket clip adjustment?

I have a Kershaw Avalanche that I thoroughly enjoy, except for the pocket clip. It has to much "grab" and makes it difficult to remove the knife from my pocket. My thinking is that a clip should just barely hold the knife in place and let gravity do the rest.

Can you bend pocket clips to adjust them without damage?
Thanks

If you are careful yes. I usually take them off and clamp them in my small table vise which is equipped with hard wood shields to keep from scratching up the clip or anything else I may put in it. Once held in place you can then dawn a pair of gloves and rebend the clip slightly. It may take several tries.

You can also lay some clips flat on a sheet of metal or a sturdy metal table or wood table and push them down to flatten them out if they have a good upwards sway to them.

Some guys have rebent the clips using a rag to cover them and a pair of duck bill vice grips. Just don't take the bend too far. If the clip is steel it is most likely hardened to at least a 45 Rc if not higher and they can snap instead of bend if you force it too much. Titanium is easily bent but has a springiness to it and a memory so it should stay where you put a new bend but don't push it too much where it is already bent. Ti will tear if it is bent in the same spot too many times.

Hope that helps some.

STR's got it right. As he points out, just be sure to use some sort of clamping device that won't mar the metal.

Caught a Benchmade clip on a door jam once and bent it out of shape. Took it off, clamped the screw end between two pieces of wood, and hand bent it back to normal shape.

Thanks, just what I needed to know.
Was concerned that even if bent, the memory would bring it back to where it originally was, or close.
