Buck 296 from 2004 was my first pocket clip carry from Buck. I took to the tip up carry, I am a righty, from the jump. The ATS-34 super steel plus assisted opening (with a lock!) was the clincher. I carried it for months and used it daily. A terrific EDC:

Now that is just plain funny oregon!! You are going to embarrass Armand when he wakes up this morning. :)

Nice looking 296!!

Just trying to warm up the audience. :)

He knows, because I just spoke with him and told him so the other day, that I have him on a pedestal and revere him like the ancients did their Greek Gods. Mighty ITE! Long may he prosper. My hero, friend and confidant.

Oregon, what happen... LOL... OKay I'm up... Thanks my friend... Did your box make it yet... :)

Here's my knife for your Pre-SPS...

:)

A gracious and hearty good morning my friend!

I love that blade shape. If Darth Vader did pocket carry, he's more of a sheath guy I think, that would be in his EDC rotation with black on black blade/handle treatment. Rare and thank you for the photo.

I am camped out at the Post Office awaiting imminent delivery. I am really looking forward to this one because I need it so badly. I really do. Thank you kindly. You da man.

My 2nd pocket carry Buck knife. Ti handle, tip down carry, S30V (exotic for the time) and smooth as butter one-hand action made this oh so light mid-sized wonder an EDC pleasure. I am still in awe of this knife and of the designer and the builder:

Armand you have brought more joy to me than 10 Christmas. Really you have. You are a shining and valuable gift to cutlery afficianados around the world and for all time. And, um, ah, well... you've got brass! You wade out into the world and come back with both fists full of historic, rare and pristine pieces of cutlery that many would never know without your guts, intelligence, determination and economic commitment. Bravo. You never have to do another thing to prove yourself to me. Nothing.

Herbert you've got some brass too, super nice start to a stellar Buck collection, and all the way from Berlin. What a man to represent such fine taste in cutlery all the way from the other side of the world. You come to the US like its a walk in the park. I've never been to anywhere, worked/played in another language or pushed any limits of any kind. Played it safe all my life. You, on the other hand, are a walking talking renaissance man. Oh yes you are. I am in awe. You have awed and amazed me. I need to take a page from your book. I real pleasure to have met you and been in your presence. Really.

Here's one more pocket clip carry before I go look at a small Buck knife collection... I like your Pre-Show... Pocket Clip Carry Knives...

You sure start a thread on ... Pocket Clip Carry Knives ...

:)

Oregon, --- thank you --- !!!

You make me to feel embarrassed.

I enjoyed it a lot to meet you. I hope confidently that it was not the last time
that our paths will cross wherever that may be:)

Oregon, is there any reason Buck no longer makes the Ti with S30V? That looks great and so functional!

Thank you for the spectacular photos showing 40 years of time travel via personal cutlery. The knives from my youth bring back strongly memories of days past, faces, words and deeds. Eye-popping photography is a real joy to behold. Wow!

Your first two outdoor scenes look so similar to that of Eastern Oregon I can smell the Juniper Trees, Sage and Pine. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Love it.

Excellent question and thank you for asking.

Anything I might say would be speculative. Someone knows. Perhaps Tom Mayo will chime in here about his outstanding collaboration with Buck, one of several, the TNT.

???? Pre-SPS to Pocket Clip Carry Knives,

Ok, I can do that. Like the OP, my most used EDC is a Tempest. However, some of the folks who have posted non-clip knives look silly;)...lol.
